Scribblenauts Unlimited (10/10 Pandas)

Today I am reviewing Scribblenauts Unlimited which is available through Steam. Scribblenauts is a game which is based around word to virtual reality generation. Which means that when you type a word into the notepad generator it forms the word in the virtual world. For example if you wrote elephant it is going to generate an elephant which you can manipulate to perform specific tasks.

This game begins by introducing Maxwell the main character and his sister Lily. The storyline states that Maxwell and his sister were given a gift each from their parents to help other people in their lives. These gifts were a notepad which makes whatever you write real and a teleportation globe. They started using these gifts for their own personal amusement and then they came upon an old man and he asked for food. Maxwell trying to have his own manner of fun so he presented the old man with a rotten apple. To Maxwell and Lily’s amazement the old man turned out to be a powerful wizard and he cast a spell on Lily that would slowly turn her into stone. Although Maxwell’s brother knew a way to reverse the spell if Maxwell collected enough starites which were released when someone made another person happy he could save Lily.
Which then leads into the tutorial level of the game which is exactly like it sounds a way to teach the controls of the game. You move Maxwell by clicking your mouse and also that is how you select other objects as well. You create everything that you need by writing it out on your keyboard. You are only limited by some parameters that the program wasn’t taught like certain words and then your own imagination. It is overall a very simple game to use and it is a lot of fun. You progress through the game by collecting starites and along the way you meet a whole cast of characters which are Maxwell’s other siblings. They each reside in their own specific worlds and they each have their own specific needs and challenges. Also as you meet and help his brothers you can play as them as well through character selection.
There is a wide range of possibilities through character and object customization and also there is a large community of mods available through the Steam network which are free to download. As you can probably imagine there is a wide variety of options making for hours of playing time available and it is usable by all ages. For example my 8 year brother is addicted to the game and is constantly asking to play it and he doesn’t even focus on the storyline itself he is more interested in what he can make in the game. For example he made a flying rainbow unicorn just because he could.
After logging more hours playing this game then I would like to admit I give it a total rating of 10/10 pandas. I definitely recommend this game for anyone that is creative and just wants to express that creativity in a fun and educational way. Happy gaming.
